Muktangan, is a pioneer in educational programme offering low-cost, high-quality English medium education to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. It is the project Initiated in 2003 by Paragon Charitable Trust (PCT) a registered Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act since 1966. It is founded and spearheaded by our Trustee, visionary and educationist Ms. Elizabeth Mehta, based on her 40 years of educational experience in India. Exemptions are available under sections 80-G and 35AC of the Income Tax Act, whereby 50% and 100% respectively of the donations to the trust are eligible for deduction from the taxable income of donors. The Trust also has permission to receive contribution from abroad under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1970 (FCRA NO.- 083781089). Muktangan’s educational programme offers alternatives to orthodox educational practices. Muktangan differs from other schools in its child-centered ideology, its innovative classroom layout and curriculum, its low student-teacher ratio and its integrated teacher training programme with its reflective practices. It has proven to be an effective and relevant educational model and it impacts holistically the community and the educational development in Mumbai.
